Eddie Kirsch, the Director of Digital and Data at VSPC, highlights that short-term rental closures are major contributors to this downturn, indicating an urgent need for recovery solutions. “The majority of the shortfall is coming from our vacation rentals and some of our lower areas in Pinellas County,” he stated.
The statistics reveal a stark landscape: 704 rooms across St. Pete Beach remain closed, leaving only 66% of hotels operational. Fortunately, positive news surfaces with The Beachcomber set to reopen on October 30, yet the overall outlook remains demanding given the extent of damage to establishments like The Bellwether and the Dolphin Resort.
